SUNBURN
Treat as for other burns with cold water to remove the heat. Calamine lotion will relieve the irritation, whilst Paracetamol will also help.
Children are particularly susceptible to sunburn and great care should be taken to avoid over-exposure to the harmful effects of the sun. Use clothing, long sleeved shirts and hats to protect them from the strong sun in England and abroad.
Advice on burning times is advertised on weather forecasts and Sun Protection cream should be regularly applied to protect from strong sun in England or abroad - ideally over factor 15. Stay out of powerful sun between 11am and 3pm. Drink plenty of fluids.
Watch out for:-
* Large burned areas and blistering with cold shivers.
* Queasiness or sickness.
* Vomiting, fever or palpitations.
If these occur please contact your Doctor or Accident Department.
