MUMPS

Symptoms are swelling of the glands in front of the ears, often followed after a couple of days by swelling in front of the other ear. Swallowing can be uncomfortable, so mushy foods and liquids are best. It is infectious from 2-3 days before the swelling until 8-10 days after that date. If the pain is severe you should consult your doctor. It is only rarely serious for children or adults and is now often prevented by immunisation.
